- Standard psychology consultation: $210 (50-60 minutes)
- Extended psychology consultation: $310 (90 minutes)
Private clients
You are welcome to self-refer. There is no need to get a referral from a doctor. Many people are choosing to pay the full cost of psychological appointments to maintain their privacy.
Medicare Rebates
Medicare rebates are available for standard Psychology appointments. Up to 10 individual psychology sessions can be claimed per calendar year.
To be eligible for a Medicare rebate you will need a referral from your doctor. When making the GP appointment, ensure you ask for an extended consultation for a “Mental Health Care Plan” (this is the technical term for a referral to a psychologist).
The current Medicare rebate is $93.35 per session.
Private health funds
You may be eligible to receive a contribution towards psychological services through your private health fund. Please check the details of your cover with your provider if you intend to make a claim. A referral from a GP is not necessary to claim through a private health fund.
Please note that you can only claim either a Medicare rebate OR a health fund rebate for psychology sessions, you cannot claim both.
How can I pay for my sessions?
Online appointments: Payment is made online at the beginning of the session.
Cancellation Policy
If, for some reason you need to cancel or postpone the appointment, please give at least 24 hours’ notice prior to your appointment time to avoid incurring a late cancellation fee of $80.00.
Failing to attend an appointment means that it is impossible to offer an appointment to another person in need. If you do not attend your appointment, you will be charged $160.00, this will be added to the fee of the next appointment or invoiced to you. If you continue to miss appointments, this may jeopardise future appointments.
How many sessions will I need to attend?
The number of visits needed vary depending on the problem and on the individual. Some problems are dealt with in 4 sessions others may need 10 or more. Each session usually last for 50-60 minutes and, depending on your issue, may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
